This small yet diverse country with a very friendly local population is commonly referred to as the ‘warm heart of Africa’. Sculpted by the Great Rift Valley, this long and narrow country is dominated by the massive Lake Malawi and its floodplains in the east and the surrounding steep lush hills and plateaux in the west and south. With its vibrant markets, national parks and lakeside attractions, like boat trips and snorkelling, Malawi is a great destination, especially as a relaxing addition to a Zambian safari.
